What you get without a licence
One typeface, and the whole editor: drawing, spacing, kerning, and export to TrueType, OpenType, WOFF and the HTML preview. The exported file is complete and installable, it simply carries a “Trial” suffix in its family name, so it is not meant for release.
A licence is 39 €, the introductory price, paid once, and covers every Mac you own. It lifts the one-typeface limit and the trial mark, and opens variable fonts, colour fonts, the sprite atlas for games and the bitmap format. What a licence unlocks.
Installing
Open the disk image and drag Sort Type Lab onto the Applications folder. That is all. If you bought a licence, paste the key into Settings (⌘,) → Licence, there is no account and nothing to activate online.
Updates
The app checks for updates by itself and asks before it installs anything. You can also check at any time from the application menu. Updates within version 1 are included. What changed in each one is in the changelog.
iPhone and iPad
The iOS version comes from the App Store and updates through it. It is a separate app with the same file format, a project drawn on one runs on the other.
